Threads, the rival of X, could soon introduce the ability to edit posts, as developer Alessandro Paluzzi has suggested. Read on for all the details we know so far.

Meta’s Threads may soon introduce an option to edit posts within 5 minutes of publishing them, matching its rival, X (formerly Twitter), which already allows post editing.

Notably, X allows post editing within an hour of posting, but this feature is part of their X Premium subscription, which includes additional benefits such as the blue checkmark, increased reach, and eligibility for X revenue sharing. In contrast, Meta’s Threads is expected to offer this editing feature for free to all users.

This development comes in light of internal screenshots shared by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who stated that users would have a 5-minute window to edit their posts after publishing.

Although this feature is not currently available to users, it could be launched in the future. However, until Meta officially announces this feature, it should be taken with a grain of salt. But notably, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has previously mentioned that Meta is working on new features for Threads, including the ability to edit posts. So, it remains to be seen when or if Meta actually plans to launch this new edit feature.

In related news, Meta is also working on allowing users to delete their Threads profile without affecting their Instagram account. Alessandro Paluzzi noted that after deleting a Threads profile, users wanting to rejoin Threads with the same Instagram account will need to wait for 120 days.

If this is true, it would be a big change for users who have criticized Meta for not letting them delete their Threads profile without also deleting their Instagram profile. It could also inspire more people to create anonymous accounts on Threads, something that Twitter is known for.
