WhatsApp is getting a taste of Generative AI in the coming months as Meta confirmed some of the new features coming to the messaging app. The company’s quick shift from the metaverse to AI is understandable and billions of WhatsApp users will be seeing this change. Generative AI for users basically looks at features of the AI chatbot to help you with queries, create WhatsApp stickers using AI prompts and similarly make images using the AI tech. Meta claims these AI tools are coming to let you be more creative, expressive and productive. It also assures that all the AI data is secured with end-to-end encryption.
So what are these new AI tools coming to WhatsApp for users, here are the details.
Meta is using its Llama 2 language model to create an image generation model called Emu. The company says this model can turn your text prompts on WhatsApp into high-quality stickers. The feature is rolling out to select English-language users over the next month on WhatsApp and other Meta apps. All you have to do is head over to the GIF corner on WhatsApp and click on the Create button to generate an AI sticker of your choice.

Create Images With AI
Just like you can create stickers using AI, WhatsApp will let you create AI-generated images as well. You will need to text with @ Meta AI/imagine prompt and then write your request to let the AI model do its magic. There are no special settings that you need to enable to use this AI feature.
AI Chatbot on WhatsApp
Any AI integration would be incomplete with an AI chatbot and Meta is bringing the tech to WhatsApp as well. As we have seen with other chatbots in the market, the Meta AI chatbot will summarise gift ideas for the users and or any particular query they want answered. Meta AI has access to real-time information through our search partnership with Bing and offers a tool for image generation, the company explained. WhatsApp users need to text @ meta AI and then feed their query to the AI chatbot to reply.
