WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to quickly share original quality photos and videos.

With this shortcut, the instant messaging app is making it easier for users to select photos and videos from their app gallery.

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a feature to quickly send original quality photos and videos. The feature aims to make it easier for users to share media with original quality, without losing time in browsing through multiple menus or folders.

“The feature was under development in the previous updates but, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.3 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to quickly share original quality photos and videos to some beta testers,” WABetaInfo reported.

As per the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, a new entry point is available within the documents picker. With this shortcut, the instant messaging app is making it easier for users to select photos and videos from their app gallery. After selecting photos and videos from this shortcut, they will be shared as documents to keep their quality and HEIC metadata.

It is important to note that it was already possible to share photos and videos as documents to preserve media quality in the previous updates, but the new entry point simplifies this process by presenting the media picker, ensuring that users can quickly share media in their original quality even better than before.

The report suggested that this feature will definitely improve the user experience when sharing media. With the ability to share original quality photos and videos, the Meta-owned app provides users with a new tool to preserve media quality as a final solution.

“When users share photos and videos in their original quality, this feature ensures that the content maintains its original resolution, clarity, and fidelity. This also means that photos and videos will not lose their details, sharpness, or colour accuracy due to compression or downscaling during the sharing process,” the report said.

This feature for sending original quality photos and videos is currently accessible to select beta testers who update their WhatsApp beta for Android through the Google Play Store. It will gradually become available to a wider audience in the coming days.
