India Meteorological Department issued a ‘red’ alert for Himachal Pradesh due to extremely heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for several states in north, east, and northeast India. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected across many regions of the country. The monsoon spell will remain active over large parts of India for the next few days.
