UAE President Sheikh Mohamed orders 20% of Abu Dhabi’s land to be designated as nature reserves

Abu Dhabi has significantly expanded its protected natural areas, designating 20% of its land as nature reserves. This initiative adds 4,581 square kilometers of new zones and enlarges existing ones, bringing the total to 26 reserves. The move aligns with the UAE’s commitment to global sustainability and its hosting of the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025.
