Texas woman who worked as school janitor for 39 years gets elementary school named after her

Marilyn Hampton, 76, who worked as a school custodian in Texas for 39 years, has been honoured with an elementary school named after her. Hampton, who once considered herself a failure for not attending college, regularly helped students with schoolwork and bought supplies for those in need. The surprise announcement on October 21 left her in tears. The school will open in August 2027.
