Resident Evil Village launches on October 30 for iPhone 15 Pro models and certain iPads. Here’s what you need to know.

At the ‘Wonderlust’ launch event for the Apple iPhone 15 series, Apple revealed that the new A17 Pro chipset, based on the new 3nm architecture, will enable the iPhone to play AAA console and PC games. And hence, Capcom and Apple are bringing Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake (previously only available for PC and current-generation consoles) to the new iPhone 15 Pro lineup.

The games, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village, have already been listed on the App Store, with Resident Evil Village launching first on October 30, 2023. According to Capcom, the release date for Resident Evil 4 Remake is unclear, but an App Store listing suggests it will be available on December 31, 2023, and is labeled as “coming soon.” Pre-orders for both games have also begun. The trial is free, but they will cost $39.99 and $59.99 for the full games as in-app purchases, respectively.

Notably, these games will be available to play only for Apple iPhone 15 Pro owners due to the A17 Pro chipset, which now also supports hardware-based ray tracing. However, the games are also launching for compatible Apple iPads. Here are the compatible models:

iPad:

  • iPad Pro (12.9-inch, M1 5th generation)
  • iPad Pro (11-inch, M1 3rd generation)
  • iPad Pro (12.9-inch, M2 6th generation)
  • iPad Pro (11-inch, M2 4th generation)
  • iPad Air (M1 5th generation)

iPhone:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

Capcom, the developer of Resident Evil Village, notes that it has dropped support for keyboard and mouse input, so you will need to connect a controller to your iPad or iPhone to play it. Additionally, with the iPhone 15 Pro models, users will be able to take advantage of the USB-C port and connect it to a display that supports DisplayPort to get output in 4k—allowing you to enjoy the games on a bigger screen.

Notably, Resident Evil Village was already made available for Apple computers with the M-series chips, starting with the M1, and is currently available for Rs 1,799.
