Nothing has finally released the first beta for Nothing OS 2.5, based on Android 14. The update, touted as the most significant since the debut of Nothing OS 2.0 on the Nothing Phone 2, introduces several changes. These changes include an updated widgets library, a customizable power button, and an updated quick settings layout for the Nothing Phone 2.

Here are the major changes coming with Nothing OS 2.5:

Firstly, Nothing has added the ability to hide app icons from the home screen and the app tray. The update also brings a new screenshot editor and menu, along with a new photos widget, allowing users to display pictures on their home screen.

And, native Android 14-based changes, such as monochrome mode, back gestures while interacting with apps, and the ability to set ringtone and notification sound volumes separately, have also been ported over. Nothing OS 2.5 also comes with an updated volume control interface for better ease of use.

How to Get Nothing OS 2.5 on Your Nothing Phone 2

To begin, users must install NOS 2.03.10. Next, download this APK and install it from the downloads. You can then go to Settings > System > Update to access the Beta version.

It is important to note that beta support for Nothing OS 2.5 is currently available only for the Nothing Phone 2, not the Phone 1, and it is not exactly clear when or if the Nothing Phone 1 will receive the beta or be upgraded directly to the public version whenever it launches.

The London-based tech startup has not yet announced when the final version will be available for either phone. Both phones feature a variety of software-based features, and the new beta aims to further improve this set.
