Without Earth’s gravitational cues, the roots and shoots exhibit erratic growth patterns. Similarly, other plants like Arabidopsis thaliana face similar challenges in space. To prepare for longer missions, NASA is actively designing systems to counterbalance the absence of gravity, underscoring the importance of understanding plant behavior for future food cultivation in space.
