Apple’s decision to use titanium alloy for the iPhone 15 Pro might have its issue

Apple is using titanium alloy to build the new iPhone 15 Pro series models which has made the iPhones lighter but does that come at cost?

iPhone 15 Pro Max seems to be a big hit for Apple with millions happy to shell out big bucks for the most-premium iPhone 15 series model this year. The industry experts have already discussed a quarterly shipment of over 30 million units.

One of the main reasons for this demand is the exclusive camera tech and the new titanium finish, which is claimed to make the iPhones lighter but more durable. However, a new report suggests otherwise, which might be kind of a warning to people using the iPhone 15 Pro or the 15 Pro Max without a case.

Apple’s decision to switch from stainless steel to titanium alloy has its pluses and one major issue. Going by the recent drop test videos of the iPhone 15 Pro models, it is evident that the titanium body isn’t giving the iPhones extra durability. In fact, it looks more fragile than what the iPhone 14 Pro series offered last year.

If you check out many people putting their feedback on the build quality of the iPhone 15 Pro series, the signs are not encouraging. Some have even said that they do not use the iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max without a solid case.

In some videos, we have even seen the camera module of the iPhone 15 Pro break into pieces, completely removed from the device. The new material has made it easy for the iPhone 15 Pro series to get damaged, which is definitely a concern for people spending well over Rs 1.5 lakh this year.

Apple has managed to reduce the price of the back panel for the iPhone 15 Pro series in a dramatic fashion, so much so that people were not sure if the deal was too good to be true. Well, if these tests are anything to go by, the price cut starts to make sense, as people might run over to the Apple service centre to get any major dent or scratch fixed.

These changes mean that people should get Apple Care+ for their iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max device, which comes to around Rs 20,000 that offers unlimited back panel repair or replacement for a nominal service charge.
