Marjorie Leighey fought to save the Pope-Leighey House from destruction due to the construction of Interstate 66. After her husband’s death, she mobilized support from preservationists and the public to save her home. The house was eventually moved to the Woodlawn property, where it remains accessible to visitors today. Marjorie’s efforts were instrumental in highlighting the importance of preserving modern architectural treasures.
