Google could use its Fitbit acquisition to improve the features of the upcoming Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch. Google is launching its second-gen Pixel Watch early next month, and while the company has teased the product’s design, we are gradually getting more details about the features that the Pixel Watch 2 could have this year.
Google is likely to use the Snapdragon W5 series chip to power the new smartwatch which will come with Wear OS 4.0 version out of the box. But like with every wearable, all eyes will be keen to see the new health features on the Pixel Watch 2 and the list is expected to be exciting.
Reports say Google could bring an improved electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor which helps with tracking your stress levels, something that Apple Watch has mastered over the years. It will be interesting to see if the Pixel Watch 2 gets the alert feature for these sensors, which will make them more useful.
But the main highlight of the Pixel Watch 2 is reportedly going to be an in-built thermometer that can be used to check your temperature. We’ve seen this feature on the Fitbit Sense 2 earlier, and now that Google owns the tech from the company, it makes sense to bring it to the Pixel Watch lineup as well.
Reports have tipped that Google will bring an in-built temperature sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro model as well. The phones and the Pixel Watch 2 will be launching on October 4 at the same event in New York City.
The design teasers have shown us that the Pixel Watch 2 will have a sleek design and slim bezels on the display. Google has also confirmed that both the Pixel 8 series and the Pixel Watch 2 will be coming to India around the same time next month. Google could have both Wi-Fi and LTE models of the Pixel Watch 2 launching in the market.
