WhatsApp users who have chosen not to follow any channel now have the option to collapse the section listing recommended channels
The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp is currently working on several new features to make its platform more user-friendly. Now, a new report suggests that Meta-owned app is now rolling out a search feature for the Updates tab, making it easier to search for status updates and channels.
“This feature has already been released to some Android beta testers with the recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.7 update, and we just discovered that WhatsApp is now rolling the search feature on the iOS app as well,” WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, reported.
As per the report, a new search bar a search bar for the Updates tab is available to some beta testers after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.21.1.72 update from the TestFlight app.
“The feature also allows users to search for their followed channels right within the new search bar since it could be complicated to find specific channels among a growing list of followed updates,” WABetaInfo said.
In addition, users who have chosen not to follow any channel now have the option to collapse the section listing recommended channels.
The report suggested that this feature was needed as it was complicated to search for status updates with the new Updates tab. With this, the instant messaging application is finally bringing back the search feature for status updates and making it easier for users to search for followed channels.
“We think that the update also confirms their commitment to listen to user feedback as a lot of users do not want to see recommended channels in the new Updates tab, improving the user experience.” the WhatsApp tracking app said.
The search feature within the Updates tab is currently accessible to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta updates via the TestFlight app on iOS. It will gradually become available to more people over the coming days.
