Philanthropist George Soros has been honored with the European Civil Rights Prize of the Sinti and Roma for his extensive support of Roma communities. His son, Alex Soros, accepted the award, which recognises efforts to combat discrimination and improve access to education and justice for Roma people. Soros pledged to donate the prize money to a Roma education fund.
