NPCI and RBI unveiled several initiatives to advance India’s digital payments ecosystem on Tuesday. NPCI launched on-device biometric authentication for UPI, allowing fingerprint or face unlock for transactions up to Rs. 5,000, and Aadhaar-based face authentication for setting or resetting UPI PINs. UPI Lite now supports payments via wearable smart glasses. New cash withdrawal modes through micro ATMs and multi-signatory account access were also introduced. Navi UPI became India’s first platform to offer biometric-based payments at scale.

OnePlus Nord 6 launch in India could be on the cards as the phone has cleared its first hurdle ahead of the official launch in India. It has now been listed on the IMEI database with model number CPH2807, according to a report. The OnePlus Nord 6 is expected to arrive as a rebranded version of the China exclusive OnePlus Ace 6. It is likely to offer upgrades over the OnePlus Nord 5.

The Honor Magic 8 series is scheduled to be launched in China on October 16. Ahead of its debut, the white colourway of the Pro model in the lineup has allegedly surfaced via images on social media. The Honor Magic 8 Pro appears to share its design with the standard variant, featuring a large circular camera deco at the back. The camera system on the upcoming handset is also confirmed to use AI for image enhancements.

Following the recent announcement of the One UI 8 release schedule for Galaxy devices in India, the company has begun rolling out the Android 16-based firmware update. According to claims on social media, the Samsung Galaxy F36 has become the latest handset from the South Korean tech conglomerate to receive an update. Samsung users report that the update is now also available for its identical sibling, the Galaxy M36.

Apple has quietly fixed a glitch affecting Apple Intelligence on iPhone 17 and iPhone Air models. The bug had prevented some users from accessing AI features like Genmoji, Image Playground, and Writing Tools. Reports indicate the problem first appeared shortly after the devices launched on September 9. Affected users said Apple’s support team was aware, and the server-side update was applied automatically. iPhone users can check Apple Intelligence status in Settings.
