The iPhone 16 Ultra could be a big upgrade in 2024

The iPhone 16 series rumours are already making the rounds and bringing an Ultra variant next year seems inevitable now.

The iPhone 15 series has launched and the reviews are also out giving us all the details we need to know about the new models. Now it is time to shift our focus towards the iPhone 16 series which will be launching in 2024 and the biggest change that is expected next year will be linked to the name of the most premium iPhone model.

In fact, the leaks are already out-targeting the iPhone 16 series which could be the start of the Ultra era for Apple. By that we mean the iPhone 16 Pro Max could give way to the iPhone 16 Ultra next year.

Reports had suggested that Apple could bring the Ultra moniker with the iPhone 15 series this year itself but now that the products are official, all eyes are on the iPhone 16 series to see if we do get the Ultra model.

The decision to bring an Ultra model is likely to coincide with the changing dynamics of the premium iPhone model and allow Apple to separate the Pro from the Ultra variant, something we’ve already seen with the Pro and Pro Max models in the past few years.

The Ultra moniker could push the iPhone 16 series to a new level, not only in terms of the features but the price tag as well. It is expected to have camera features that could make it compatible with the Vision Pro headset and also include a telescope lens for the first time.

Apple is likely to bring major design changes to the iPhone 16 series next year, and the company could finally offer the ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate display on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models as well. It is also possible that the company could bring the A17 Pro chipset to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus variants while upgrading the 16 Pro and 16 Ultra to the possible A18 Pro chip.
