Felix Dennis began planting a small wood in 1996, which grew into the Heart of England Forest. This project aimed to restore native broadleaf trees across South Warwickshire. The charity was established in 2003 to continue purchasing and planting land. Dennis envisioned 25,000 acres of woodland open to the public. After his death in 2014, the forest has expanded significantly.
