Researchers in Ireland have unearthed the oldest known English poem, “Caedmon’s Hymn,” dating back to the 7th century. This remarkable discovery, found embedded within a 9th-century Latin manuscript in a Roman library, predates previous earliest known copies by three centuries, offering new insights into the early spread of the English language.
